Each year, the NCCT Indigenous Artisan Marketplace invites an Indigenous artist to create a six-piece series to be sold exclusively at the Marketplace. Most of the funds go straight to the artist to support their talents and a minimal fee is given to the NCCT for managing the sales. This is a wonderful way to support Indigenous Arts.
Each piece is hand drawn digitally and printed on wood. Each exclusive piece is signed by the artist.
Tessa Shank Reinterprets traditional Anishinaabe teachings through contemporary mediums & concepts. At the core of her work is examining her heritage, translated into personal and present-day perspectives. She experiments with new materials, mediums, and processes and is interested in the juxtaposition of technology and nature, of the past and the present, traditions of time immemorial through an ultramodern lens as an expression of her personal experience with identity.
